Hundreds of children from Equatorial Guinea have already been able to wear the 'Solidarity Shoes' donated by the people of Lanzarote during the last school year in the sixth edition of this campaign coordinated by the Cabildo of Lanzarote through Lanzarote Recicla and the RECICOLE Project and the Department of Social Welfare, in which 2,240 pairs of shoes were collected thanks to the collaboration of 34 educational centers on the island and 14 other entities, as well as the Conejero Basketball Club and the Martínez Hermanos Foundation.

The solidarity shoes were delivered a few days ago, during the celebration of the Ciudad de Malabo and Bata Basketball Campus organized by the Martínez Hermanos Foundation, the Conejero Basketball Club and the Basketball Federation of Equatorial Guinea. These campuses have the objective of initiating Guinean children and young people in the practice of sports as a model of social inclusion and the development of healthy habits in a safe environment.

The total footwear collected in this 2019 campaign was 2,094 pairs of sports shoes and 146 non-sports shoes (cholas and dress shoes), which will also be donated to social centers in the cities of Malabo and Bata.

The shoes were sent, prepared and classified, thanks to the work of the volunteers of the Zonzamas Therapeutic Community, a center dependent on the Department of Social Welfare of the Cabildo, who washed, classified, repaired and packed all the donated shoes.
