Hospiten launches the ninth edition of its annual campaign on prevention and detection of colon cancer. On the occasion of International Colon Cancer Day, which takes place on March 31, the hospital network offers free tests to interested people with the aim of remembering the importance of early detection of this pathology.

The campaign will take place in its centers in Tenerife and Lanzarote.

According to data from the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), colorectal cancer represented the second most diagnosed tumor with a total of 40,203 new cases in 2023. This pathology, which is more frequent in men than in women, is the type of tumor with the highest incidence in Spain considering the general population.

This type of cancer is usually detected late, causing possible treatments against the pathology to be limited. For this reason, Hospiten invites people over 50 years of age, or 40 if they have a family history of cancer or colon polyps, to take a Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT). If the result is positive, they will be offered a free consultation with the Hospiten Digestive specialist.

With participation in this screening process, precancerous or malignant lesions can be found in a localized phase. This facilitates the use of less aggressive treatments and increases the chances of cure in patients.

Those interested can make an appointment before March 18, through the Hospiten app. More information can be found at hospiten.com.
