The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has ruled out this Friday one of the two suspected cases of monkeypox that existed in Lanzarote until this Thursday. In addition, it has notified a new positive case in the archipelago, in addition to four others under study.
Therefore, since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there have been 154 confirmed cases, of which 90 were detected in Gran Canaria, 58 in Tenerife, four in Fuerteventura, one in La Palma and another in Lanzarote. All active cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation.
In addition, the Ministry maintains five cases under study: two probable in Gran Canaria and three suspected, two of them in Tenerife and one in Lanzarote.
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands informs that, as of next week, the General Directorate of Public Health will notify cases of monkeypox only twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, "as the Ministry of Health and other autonomous communities already do."
