The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands reports two new cases and four under study of monkeypox since this Wednesday.

Therefore, since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert, there have been 102 confirmed cases, of which 68 were detected in Gran Canaria, 32 in Tenerife and two in Fuerteventura, the Ministry of Health specifies this Thursday in a statement.

All active cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.

There are also two probable cases, pending confirmation, reported in Fuerteventura; and two suspected cases, pending confirmation, one reported in Gran Canaria and another in Tenerife.

The Ministry of Health's protocol classifies cases as probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if they only present clinical criteria, in which case it is considered a suspected case.
