Radio Lanzarote announcer Francisco José Navarro will be in charge of kicking off the festivities of San Marcial de Rubicón, patron saint of Lanzarote, which are celebrated in Femés, with his proclamation. The event will take place this Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in the town's church.
Francisco José Navarro's proclamation will mark the beginning of the festivities, which will last until Sunday, the 8th. Throughout the week, residents and visitors will be able to enjoy many activities. Thus, after the proclamation, the municipality's Senior Citizens' playback will be held.
On Thursday, there will be a recycling workshop, as well as a mass. In the afternoon-evening, the Voices of Houston gospel choir will begin their performance in the church of San Marcial Rubicón, and there will also be theater with the plays "Ay, la virgen" and "El entrometido" in the town's tent.
On Friday, the children's party "Salta y baila sin parar" will begin at 10:00 a.m., and in the afternoon, at 7:30 p.m., the first edition of "Gallina's Racing Femés" will be held. The festivities will end this day with a night of dancing with the El Geito and Los Salineros de La Hoya parrandas.
On Saturday at 9:30 a.m., the pilgrims' mass will be celebrated, which will also take place at 1:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., it will be the turn of the solemn function, which will be followed by the procession in honor of San Marcial de Rubicón. Next, the VI edition of Soloists of San Marcial de Rubicón 2012 will take place, followed by a fair.
The festivities will end on Sunday, the day on which the second mountain race will be held, as well as a "wet party", a meeting of neighbors, and the traditional dessert and tortilla contests. There will also be soccer between single and married men from the town.
