Four fourth-year ESO students from the Santa María de Los Volcanes Nazaret School have won one of the prizes awarded by the Higher Council for Scientific Research in the Canary Islands with their scientific project. This same Friday, at 12:30 p.m., the awards ceremony for scientific dissemination, aimed at third and fourth year ESO students, as well as first year high school students from the Islands, took place in La Laguna.

The students from Lanzarote have won one of the prizes in free theme with the work "fitoplanctonacuinizate", dedicated to the cultivation potential of microalgae in Lanzarote for aquaculture and for the production of biofuels.

In addition, four double prizes have been awarded to students who carried out the work and to their educational centers. The endowment to the awarded centers is destined to their library and to the equipment of their laboratories, in order to promote the educational work they carry out.

The awards are organized by the Higher Council for Scientific Research, through the Institute of Natural Products and Agrobiology, and by the Canary Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), through the Technological Institute of the Canary Islands, within the collaboration agreement signed by the two institutions.
