The XXII Lanzarote International Film Festival will celebrate the twenty-second Children's and Youth Short Film Exhibition to bring audiovisual language closer to students in the island's educational centers, through short films.
"Our main objective is the education of values through cinema, a tool that transmits knowledge directly, easy to assimilate," explain from the organization of the FICL, the Culture area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and Fisme Producciones.
The Festival will deliver, free of charge, a pendrive to the registered centers with the selection of short films adapted to each age group divided into three folders (Children 4 and 5 years old, 1st and 2nd of Primary; 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th of Primary and a third for ESO and Baccalaureate). Thanks to the collaboration of the Festival's animator, the screening will also include explanations on the themes of the short films.
For its part, the Cabildo of Lanzarote emphasizes that "cinema not only reaches people's intelligence, it also connects with their emotions, to generate motivations and to facilitate people's commitment to change. Cinema makes children mature, promotes the development of their personality, that they become familiar with the audiovisual language and with the stories told through images" and add that "it is in our hands to educate a future generation of critical spectators."
So far, the IES Haría, Costa Teguise and San Bartolomé have registered in the Exhibition; the CEIP Titerroy, Virgen de los Volcanes, Benito Méndez Tarajano, Mararía, Las Mercedes, El Quintero, Santa María de los Volcanes, Argana Alta and Capellanía del Yágabo; the CIFP Zonzamas; the CEO Playa Blanca; the AMPA of the CEIP María Auxiliadora; Colegio Arenas Internacional and British School Lanzarote.
