Eufemia Emilia Fernández Marrero, known as Dolores, passed away this Thursday in Arrecife at the age of 101. Dolores was the granddaughter of Víctor Fernández Gopar El Salinero, the island's best-known popular poet who gives his name to the Lanzarote Island Council Theater.
Last August 17, she added another year to her centennial life and humorously said that "I'm barely turning one year old and here we are eating and sleeping."
Dolores was the widow of Miguel Sepúlveda Figueras and they had four children: Tomás, Fela (deceased), Miguel and Esteban (deceased).
The funeral chapel to say goodbye to Dolores is installed in the Municipal Funeral Home of Yaiza. The funeral mass will be held tomorrow, September 29, at 5:00 p.m., in the Church of Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios (Yaiza) and from there her mortal remains will be taken to the Yaiza cemetery.
