The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Educational Promotion, will take the Preteapa Project to the stage of the San Bartolomé Theater (Lanzarote) tomorrow, Tuesday, February 14, starting at 7:00 p.m., with the performance of the play 'Love in the Shadow of AIDS', by the author Helena Prawer de Korkin, by the Teatrapa children's and youth educational theater group.

This initiative is aimed at parents of students and is intended for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies among the student community.

Canary Plan for Youth Sexuality Care

The Preteapa Project is part of the activities of the Canary Plan for Youth Sexuality Care, included in the collaboration agreements signed between the Ministries of Education, Culture and Sports and Health of the Autonomous Government for the coordination of actions in the field of promotion, care and affective-sexual education in the field of the educational community.

The activities that make up the Preteapa Project aim to inform and advise parents of students so that they establish communication strategies with their children from realistic approaches, based on current knowledge about sexually transmitted infections, AIDS and risk behaviors.

Clarify doubts

The development of the Preteapa Project, which has the collaboration of the Ministry of Health and the island councils, is divided into two parts: performance of the play 'Love in the Shadow of AIDS', by Helena Prawer de Korkin, in educational centers and theaters of the Archipelago between January and April of this year; and development of a colloquium promoted by professionals from the Program for the Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections and AIDS of the General Directorate of Public Health, with the aim of clarifying doubts, completing information, answering questions and generating reflection on what happened in the theatrical work.

The play 'Love in the Shadow of AIDS', which will be performed tomorrow, Tuesday, at the San Bartolomé Theater starting at 7:00 p.m., stages the relationship of a young couple who meet again after a time of separation. The plot reveals, among other aspects, factors that favor risky sexual behaviors, which are often not given the relevance they have and which have a crucial aspect among the youth population.
