This Thursday, Domitila Padrón, a resident of Mácher and recognized by the council in 2020 as the municipality's 'Rural Woman', passed away at the age of 101.
The Tías City Council, on behalf of the entire corporation, expresses its deepest condolences for the passing this Thursday of Domitila Otilia Padrón Bermúdez at the age of 101.
The City Council extends its heartfelt condolences to all her friends and loved ones and announces that the farewell will take place from the Municipal Funeral Home to the church of San Antonio, where the funeral mass will be offered on Friday, January 10, at 4:00 p.m.
Domitila Padrón dedicated her entire life to the house, the countryside, and her family: her parents, Marcial Padrón Medina and Carmen Bermúdez Mesa; her husband, Juan Viña Hernández; her children, María Imperio and Rogelio Viña Padrón; along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc.
During the act of her recognition as Rural Woman of Tías in 2020, she read the following words in her own handwriting:
“[…] In this long life, all I have done is work and work. I have seen years of drought, hunger, migration. I have seen republic, dictatorship, democracy pass by. I have experienced epidemics not as rare as this one […] I pray that this passes soon and to the politicians, that they unite. I end by giving thanks for this opportunity to the City Council, for giving me this tribute. Thanks to the family and the neighbors of my town of Mácher”.
