Dayana Luis and Yarelis Vizcaíno were proclaimed Miss Gay Tourism Puerto del Carmen 2017 last Friday in the S and XL categories respectively. In the first edition of the contest, held in El Varadero square, the 16 candidates paraded in swimwear and evening wear. In addition, through giant television screens, "their photographs were seen in the natural state and on stage their transformation with hairdressing, makeup and costumes", according to the Tías City Council.
In addition to the crown of Miss Gay Tourism in the XL category, Yarelis Vizcaíno also won the popularity award, while Dayana Luis also won the Elegance sash. The Miss Gay Tourism South Zone sash went to Eva Harrington, in XL, and in S, the chosen one was Ariela Santos. Miss Tiñosa Gay was Carla Rodríguez, in the S category, and in XL, Steyci Díaz.
The Miss Congeniality sash went to Thairys Mihalic, who also managed to be proclaimed first lady of honor Miss Gay Tourism Puerto del Carmen in XL and Carla Gil, second lady of honor. Marlene Soto achieved the best score in Photogenicity; Alexia Shame, in category S, was proclaimed first lady of honor and Daniela Castro second lady of honor.
"It took place in front of a square packed with public"
The jury, chaired by Yanet Guadalupe, was made up of Regina Cabrera, Airán Brito, Orlando Callero, Pahola Valentimi and photographer Dory Hernández. Ico Sánchez acted as secretary, without the right to vote. The gala, which "took place in front of a square packed with public, was directed by the resident of Puerto del Carmen, Aytami Domínguez Sosa", they highlighted from the Council. It also included the presence and performance of the television Amor Romeira, and the well-known actor, singer and Andalusian transformist José Ignacio Ordóñez, known artistically as Nacha la Macha, who presented the event together with Ruíz Sánchez.
The sashes were presented by the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Tourism, Amado Jesús Vizcaíno; Francisco Javier Aparicio Betancort, Councilor for Festivities; and Nerea Santana Alonso, Councilor for Beaches, Commerce and New Technologies of the Tías City Council. The Ballet Dance Pot performed during the gala with several choreographies, in one of them accompanying Amor Romeira.
The Carmen festivities in La Tiñosa have hosted this event for the first time this year, coinciding with the 50th Anniversary of the creation of the first tourist area of Lanzarote. The gala was proposed by the Festival Commission, made up of residents of La Tiñosa, and sponsored by the Tías City Council.
