The Costa Teguise school has been recognized with the Seal of Excellence that the Ministry of Education of the Canary Islands Government implemented in the current school year. In total, 10 centers in the Canary Islands have received this award, and this is the only one in Lanzarote.

This initiative recognizes the innovative capacity in improving the teaching and learning processes of non-university public educational centers on the islands, as well as the elements that affect the organization and operation of teaching practice.

It should be noted that the award is provided with an economic endowment of 2,000 euros during each of the school years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, "to contribute to the improvement of quality and excellence", and also involves the dissemination of the projects that have obtained it.

Along with the CEIP of Costa Teguise, the IES Ichasagua (Arona, Tenerife) have also received this award; La Laboral de La Laguna (Tenerife); Las Galletas (Arona, Tenerife) and Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura); the CEIP La Laguna (Los Llanos de Aridane, La Palma); Asturias (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria); in Arucas (Gran Canaria), and Pintor Manolo Millares (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), as well as the CIFP Las Indias (Santa Cruz de Tenerife).

The general director of Planning, Innovation and Quality, Gregorio Cabrera, explained that the evaluation of the proposals included "quality indicators in the field of methodological and curricular innovation, the use and good use of technological resources, the organization and conditioning of learning spaces, pedagogical leadership and participatory culture, the improvement of coexistence or participation in innovation projects, in addition to encouraging comprehensive projects that incorporate the thematic axes within the framework of the Canarias InnovAS Educational Network and the promotion of the professional skills of teachers".

Likewise, he pointed out that these centers have been proposed by the educational communities of other centers, as well as different bodies of the administration itself, and were subsequently visited by a commission that has directly known the transformation projects that are distinguished with this award, which covers all educational stages.

The presentation of the awards will take place in an event with representation from the educational community of the selected educational centers, which will take place next June.
