Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife and the National Police arrested this past Monday two people, a 39-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of robbery with force and serious threats for allegedly struggling and assaulting a third person who was inside a car and stealing their mobile phone and also trying to steal their fanny pack.

As reported by the Arrecife City Council, the events occurred around 09:40 in the morning, on the Vía Medular of Arrecife, when agents of the Operational Group for Citizen Attention (GOAC) of the Local Police were intervening in a traffic accident with an injured person.

While attending to said service, the agents were required as a disturbance was occurring in the vicinity. A patrol moved to the scene of the events, arriving practically at the same time as agents of the National Police. Both police forces acted in a coordinated manner and collaborated closely to clarify what had happened.

After interviewing the parties involved and eyewitnesses individually and privately, the agents were able to determine that the arrested couple allegedly initiated a struggle and assaulted a man who was inside a vehicle, managing to steal a mobile phone and also attempting to take a fanny pack with personal items, without managing to do so.

Likewise, the now arrested individuals allegedly uttered serious threats against the victim on a continuous basis, stating in the presence of the agents their intention to cause him serious injuries.

Likewise, it was necessary to activate the UMEF (Unit for Minors and Family of the Local Police of Arrecife), as a minor, the children of the detainees, witnessed what happened. During the police intervention, a responsible family member was located who took charge of the minor, and the corresponding delivery report was carried out.

Both the National Police and the Local Police coordinated the necessary police resources to attend to and culminate in the arrest of the alleged perpetrators.
