CEIP Ajei received this Thursday the recognition as an ambassador center of "Save the Children" for its work in defense of the promotion of children's rights. This is the first school in Lanzarote to obtain this distinction, which currently has 100 centers throughout Spain.
Parents, mothers, grandparents, students and teachers attended this official event, which took place in the tent of the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Park, in San Bartolomé, on the occasion of Peace Day. During the event, there were representations, reading of allegorical texts of peace and musical performances by the students. The Peace Day celebrations have been held for 25 years in this center.
Juan Guilló, head of social mobilization of "Save the Children", presented the distinction to the center. The distinctive was collected by the former director of CEIP Ajei, Candelaria Ledesma, who excitedly shared it with all those present. Carlos de la Coba Viera received a plaque from the mayoress, María Dolores Corujo, as municipal recognition to this solidarity center.
CEIP Ajei currently collaborates with two projects, one sponsoring children in Southeast Asia and another in the "Save the Children" campaigns to raise funds. Each school year they carry out several campaigns to collect material of all kinds destined for different parts of the world and in collaboration with the San Bartolomé City Council, Los Lirios Neighborhood Association (Tías) and other organizations.
The act in the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente square ended with a song sung by the students and the public and with the release of doves.
