CCOO has called a new rally for this Thursday, November 9, at 10 a.m., in front of the Hotel Be Live Experience in Costa Teguise in defense of the labor rights of the chambermaids.
According to CCOO in a statement, the Hote Be Live Experience outsourced the floors department and all the maids by subcontracting Genser S.L., a company related to the deputy of the Popular Party, Carmen Álvarez-Arenas, who "has been forced to resign from her seat, after eldiario.es revealed that she hid from the Lower House a company (GENSER) in the Dominican Republic that has multiplied its profits since its creation, thanks to a Law approved in which she herself participated."
Since Hotel Be Live subcontracted this company, CCOO has been denouncing "continuous illegalities and breaches", recalls the union, which points out that even "the Labor Inspectorate itself has required the company to comply with the provisions of the agreement, but both companies still do not comply."
"The increase in the number of rooms that our colleagues have to make leads them to have to extend their working day up to 10 hours a day," say from CCOO, from where they have carried out "more than 14 acts of protest at the doors of the hotel throughout the year."
"The sole objective of these companies is the rapid increase of their profits, without thinking about the rights or even the health of their workers. For all this, CCOO Lanzarote, far from abandoning the fight, will intensify the protests," points out the union, which reminds employers that the Christmas campaign is about to begin "and other types of more forceful actions are not ruled out to end this business abuse."
