CC.OO disavows the participation of its delegates in the Iberia strike in Lanzarote

After two days of [Iberia staff strike at Lanzarote airport->http://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/article.php3?id_article=222], this morning the Executive Committee of the air sector of Comisiones Obreras (CC.OO) disapproved the participation of the delegates of this union in this strike.

For this purpose, the Commission met in an extraordinary session to discuss the reasons and the beginning of the mobilization. At the end of the meeting of the Executive of the air sector of CC.OO., the union alleges that the call is a "provocation and a sign of irresponsibility" of the Trade Union Section of Iberia in Lanzarote. Among other arguments, Comisiones Obreras points out in a statement that before the strike was called, there was not even an organic meeting of the Trade Union Section.

Speed in the call

The union explains that in the Assembly of June 22nd, the support or the cancellation of the strike was not voted despite the request of the attendees, who left the meeting due to the refusal of the organizers.

Comisiones Obreras also criticizes the speed in the call, when it had already been agreed that all negotiating channels should be exhausted, given the experience of previous labor disputes.

The union also asks that the members of the Strike Committee withdraw, stressing that a refusal would be equivalent to expulsion from the union.
