The Cáritas Lanzarote Association celebrated this Tuesday the awards ceremony and exhibition of the winning photographs of the first photographic competition "Objective: the invisible". The event was held in the social canteen on La Palma street in Arrecife, where the association hosted about 50 people.
This initiative has been aimed at "raising awareness and promoting the approach of society to the reality experienced every day by people who lack a home", explains Cáritas. In addition, the 12 winning photographs will be used for the design of the II Solidarity Calendar for the coming year 2017. All financial contributions received from its sale will go entirely to the "Assistance and Promotion Program with Homeless People".
The images selected by the jury "La Calle 1", by Salvador Linares Fernández, "My daily bread", by Renata Paz, "Thank you very much and good morning", by Ayoze Morera Mosegue, "Living Room Kitchen", Donovan Curbelo Marrero, "Here you can breathe struggle", by Sara Débora Guadalupe, "Under the sky, above the world", Tania Acuña González, "Earning a living", Pedro José Pérez Perdomo, "My house by the sea", Alberto Brugnoni, "Solitude", Carina López Vianna,"The faithful friend of the pigeons", Sergio López Conde,¡I am not invisible!, by Renata Paz, and "Gourmet Experience", by Francisco Javier Domínguez García. The jury was composed of the photographer Dory Hernández (photographer), Manuel Llanes and Carmen Dolores Barco.
The exhibition of the winning photographs will remain in the center for the coming months. The Cáritas Lanzarote Association would like to thank all the collaborating companies for their contribution: Líneas Marítimas Romero, Biosfera Express, Aquapark Costa Teguise, Naviera Armas, Foto Felo and Floristería Flora; as well as the presence of Dña. Lucía Olga, Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and Dña. Vicky Sande, Councilor for Social Services of the Arrecife City Council.
