Canary Islands has detected 104 new outbreaks of Covid in the last week, of which only one has been registered in Lanzarote.

By islands, 53 have occurred in Tenerife, 39 in Gran Canaria, eight in Fuerteventura and three in La Palma, which are added to the one registered in Lanzarote.

By area in which they have occurred, 46 are family outbreaks, 34 social, 16 work-related, five educational, two sports and one health-related.

Outbreaks with more than 10 cases

The Ministry of Health indicates that, in general, all outbreaks have fewer than 10 associated cases except one with 32 affected in Gran Canaria, of sports origin with educational, social and family ramifications; another educational one with family ramifications with 13 affected on that same island; another three family ones with 13, 12 and 11 affected in Tenerife; and another two, of work and social origin, both with 12 people infected in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, respectively.

Likewise, it is also highlighted that the majority of family outbreaks this week have occurred between non-cohabitants with several addresses associated with each outbreak.

Health, educational and sports outbreaks

Regarding the health outbreak, it has been reported at the Belleuve Hospital, in Tenerife, with three people affected, in hospital admission.

The educational outbreaks, all with family ramifications, have been registered three in Gran Canaria (with 13, 4, and 4 cases) and two in Tenerife (with 7 people affected, in both cases).

Of the outbreaks declared in the sports field, one is from Tenerife and affects 4 cases and has been declared in a handball team and another, with 32 people affected, corresponds to a soccer team from Gran Canaria, which has had ramifications to the educational and family field.

Monitoring of 45 old outbreaks, some with nearly 70 cases

In addition, monitoring continues to be carried out on 45 old outbreaks that remain open, with some of them having grown in number of cases. Among them, two of work origin with family ramifications stand out, one originating in Gran Canaria that already affects 68 people, one of them in hospital admission; and another in Fuerteventura with 61 people, five of them in hospital admission.

Finally, the Ministry highlights that, currently, and after completing the vaccination of group 1, there is no outbreak or any user of social health centers affected by Covid-19.
