With the arrival of the month of October, the residents of the Argana Baja neighborhood of Arrecife have already begun to celebrate the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Chaxiraxi. The starting gun was fired this Friday, at the facilities of the sociocultural center, with the reading of the proclamation by the neighbor Adán de León.
The town crier made a very exhaustive tour of the history of the neighborhood and was very mindful of many neighbors who contributed to the improvement of Argana Baja, not only when the holidays arrived but also in the daily tasks, to ensure that Argana Baja was a habitable neighborhood. Adán de León also reviewed the different events that have taken place over the years, of which he now feels a certain nostalgia.
In addition, the town crier encouraged young people to get involved in the tasks of ensuring that Argana Baja remains a neighborhood open to good coexistence between neighbors and visitors, while encouraging them to continue participating and together achieve good festivals in honor of Our Lady of Chaxiraxi.
After the reading of the proclamation, the Canarian stall was held in homage to César Manrique, which has been held since the artist's death in September 1992. In this edition, neighbors and visitors were able to enjoy the songs and dances of the Guagime folk group, which came from the town of Tahiche, which gave its best by offering a wide repertoire of songs and dances from traditional Canarian folklore.
Secondly, the members of the El Geito band took to the stage, arriving from Tinajo, who managed to get the public out on the dance floor to dance to the happiest rhythms for such a special night. And all this, after enjoying the snack served by the festival committee.
