The 'Canary Islands' collection fashion show at Madrid Fashion Week

The rosettes of the Lanzarote craftsman Antonio Betancor were the protagonists of the Fashion Week in Madrid this 2024. The Madrid designer Juan Duyos presented his new autumn-winter 2024-2025 collection called 'Islas Canarias', and was in charge of adding some complements of Canarian crafts to his designs.

Duyos chose La Geria as the background image for his fashion show at Madrid Fashion Week held these days in the capital. A design of garments inspired by a trip to the Canary Islands and that transmits the richness of the local landscapes and traditional trades.

Betancor is a young Lanzarote native who works with the typical rosettes of the Canary Islands and learned the trade from his grandmother. His creations were exhibited on the catwalk together with the works of Juan Gil, an experienced jeweler from Tenerife and Melissa Herrero, a craftswoman from Fuerteventura dedicated to macramé and crochet, among others.
