The Arrecife neighborhood of Altavista kicked off its festivities in honor of San Antonio María Claret this Thursday night. It did so with the reading of the opening speech, which began at 9:00 p.m., in the neighborhood's sociocultural center. On this occasion, the board of directors and the festival committee decided to give the event a novel twist, inviting three young neighbors as speakers, who have stood out for their commitment and work in three scenic fields.

Thus, the speakers were the timple player Alexis Lemes, the singer Alejandro Sánchez, who could not attend the event, and the dancer Ayoze Medina. The first to take the stage was Lemes, who explained to the public what the festivities were like during his childhood and how he came to the world of the timple, which has enabled him to play outside the island, something that was unthinkable for him.

Ayoze Medina was the second to take the stage. Medina is a young man very linked to the festive events of the neighborhood. Since his childhood he has participated in events, which have led him to lose his stage fright. This has allowed him to win international awards in his dance category. Ayoze spoke of the dreamed goals he has achieved.

The third speaker, Alejandro Sánchez, could not attend the event, as he received the good news of a job contract a few days ago.

The organization surprised the speakers with the screening of some videos, which included part of their lives with well-known figures such as Benito Cabrera or Las K-narias. The dancers from the Fashion School were also present.

The event came to an end with the presentation of plaques to the protagonists. Some councilors from the Arrecife City Council were present at the opening speech, such as Rafael Juan González, Eva de Anta, Víctor Sanginés and Ascensión Toledo. Also present were the island director of the General State Administration, María Dolores Luzardo, and the councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Juan Antonio de la Hoz.
