A truck has been trapped after the asphalt sank on the bridge that connects Titerroy with Maneje, in Arrecife. The driver has been rescued without problems and has not suffered any damage.

Firefighters, Local Police and Civil Protection have arrived at the scene around 1:30 p.m. The vehicle could not leave the road, as the road had cracked. However, its driver was in good health.

According to sources from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, the truck, which was delivering food, was trapped when the pavement sank as it passed over the bridge. Apparently, the water has softened the road and, therefore, it has suffered this collapse.

Therefore, it has been necessary to use a crane to try to tow the truck, which has already been moved to another area. However, the road remains closed and traffic has been diverted through Maneje.

A listener of Radio Lanzarote was already warning early this Wednesday morning that it was impossible to travel through this area, due to the accumulation of water. This road was recently opened, after the channeling works that were carried out on the road.
