Playa Honda Avenue and Guacimeta beach hosted the II Adapted Olympics of the IES Playa Honda last Thursday, an event that was attended by 114 athletes from 13 educational centers in Lanzarote. The objective of this activity was the desire to overcome the disability of the students, the promotion of physical activity and opting for healthy and healthy leisure.

The centers participating in this event were the IES San Bartolomé, Tinajo, Playa Honda, Salinas and Arrecife. From primary school, the CEIP Alcalde Rafael Cedrés, Los Geranios, Titerroy, Capellanía del Yágabo, César Manrique, Alfonso Spínola, the CEO Argana, and the Special Education Center Nuestra Señora de los Volcanes participated.

Throughout the morning, many tests were carried out, such as agility circuits, scooter races, distance and precision throws, long jump or foot races. The event was organized by the IES Playa Honda, and put into practice by the students of the higher degree cycle TAFAD of the IES Blas Cabrera Felipe, who coordinated all the tests for the enjoyment of the young athletes.

The event included the reading of a manifesto by Cristina Talens, a student from the enclave classroom of the IES Playa Honda, in which she claimed the practice of sports for people with disabilities, while inviting all associations, institutions, educational centers and companies to get involved and collaborate in this type of event.

After a fun and pleasant morning, where effort and overcoming were predominant notes, the activity ended with the delivery of diplomas and medals to the participating athletes. An emotional act, where the joy and enjoyment of the young people flooded the entire Playa Honda avenue, according to the IES Playa Honda.
