The school "Concepción Rodríguez Artiles" received, on the 9th, an honorary mention that recognized the work that this educational center is doing with the students most in need of educational compensation. The director of the center, Daniel Sánchez, and a student of the same, Sandra Rodríguez, were in charge of receiving this distinction. The Director of Educational Promotion, Rafael González, and the Mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, among others, also attended the event, which was held in Madrid.

The Ministry of Education and Science has awarded the National Awards to the Compensatory Education Projects 2005-2006. A school in Puerto del Carmen has received one of the distinctions that have been awarded for its educational compensation work. The awarded school is the CEIP "Concepción Rodríguez Artiles".

The distinction that this school has achieved is in recognition of the work it is doing, favoring the students most in need of educational compensation. The Jury has taken into account, when granting the honorary mention, the development of actions that allow compensating for the effects of situations of social disadvantage. Those in charge of receiving this distinction were the director of the school, Daniel Sánchez, and a student of the same, Sandra Rodríguez. These were accompanied by the general director of Educational Promotion, Rafael González, the mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, the director of the Insular Office of Education, Juan Cruz, and the secretary of the school, Esther Marín.
