A patera has been rescued by Maritime Rescue this Thursday near the coast of Lanzarote, according to reports from the Emergency Consortium.

There were about 45 people on board, all of Maghrebi origin. The occupants of the boat have been transferred to Puerto Naos in the capital of Lanzarote where they have been attended by the Red Cross. None of the people who arrived have been transferred to the hospital.

The patera was located in the afternoon, with the collaboration of the ship Grande Gabón, an Italian merchant ship that was sailing northeast of Lanzarote on its route from South Africa to the port of Vigo.

No patera had arrived on the island of Lanzarote since last February 8, when Maritime Rescue rescued a pneumatic boat with 56 people on board.
