A boat is rescued near the coast of Lanzarote in the early morning

Maritime Rescue rescued a boat with 46 immigrants of Maghreb origin, including four women and nine minors, about 11 miles from Órzola, in Lanzarote, early this Saturday morning.

Maritime Rescue sources have reported that at around two in the morning they received a notice from the 112 Emergency Coordination Center of the Government of the Canary Islands alerting them to a boat sailing about 11 miles from Órzola.

The state company mobilized the Helimer 201 emergency helicopter and the Al Nair rescue boat, which positioned the boat around 3:50, after spotting some lights.

The rescue took place at around 4:30 and the rescue boat transferred the 46 immigrants to the Comercial dock, in Arrecife, where they disembarked at 6:45 and were placed at the disposal of the police.
