The Local Police of Arrecife is preparing to use the Taser X-2 pistol. Through a comprehensive program, a pioneer in the Autonomous Community and supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, they are continuously training for the use of these specific devices.
The program aims to ensure continuous training for the agents of this institution, through the Instructor of the Armament and Shooting Unit (UAT), thus updating the certifications, in accordance with current regulations.
Its focus is on keeping the use of these devices updated and deeply internalized, thus guaranteeing an adequate intervention in situations that require it. The program seeks not only to meet training standards, but also to ensure a correct and effective resolution of cases in which its use is necessary, following the guidelines established by the General Directorate of Exterior Security (DGSE).
Electrical Control Devices (ECD) have emerged as extremely effective tools for the Local Police of the Canary Islands, providing effective management of situations with violent individuals and minimizing the risk to the physical integrity of the people involved.
The Local Police of the capital of Lanzarote currently has the device model: the Taser X-2, which houses two cartridges that fire darts at high speed. With a very low amperage, it does not represent a lethal risk to humans. To reinforce safety, the duration of the electric shock is limited to five seconds, requiring the agent to activate the warning arc to provide another shock with the same darts.
These devices record each shot, allowing this information to be downloaded for investigation purposes and oversight of the use of the device. In addition, the 'Axon Body 2' body camera is automatically activated when the weapon is started, enabling video documentation of police interventions.
