The Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, through the Island Consortium of Security and Emergencies, has suspended outdoor sports, educational and cultural activities due to the high temperatures that are occurring on the island. A measure that will last until Friday, when the orange alert situation is expected to end.
This suspension is due to the recommendations made by the Consortium to the Island Corporation and has also been extended to all the municipalities of the island, which it also urges to establish mechanisms for monitoring and information on the situation.
Among the recommendations to the Cabildo and the City Councils is to alert and inform camping areas, recreational areas and other areas that may be affected in order to establish the appropriate action strategy, as well as to make a forecast of the available and necessary resources.
In addition, it is also recommended to guarantee fire prevention and arrange a rapid response from the available resources for fire extinction. "It is time to comply with the recommendations to guarantee the health of all the residents of the island," says the president of the Island Emergency Consortium, Francisco Aparicio.
