A downpour has left the Gran Canaria airport inoperative for 40 minutes due to the flooding of its two runways, although it has already started operating as the water problem has been resolved in one of them, as reported to EFE this Tuesday by AENA sources.
The sources have indicated that between 2:40 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. (local time) the airport was inoperative, which has forced the diversion of 10 flights to other aerodromes on the islands.
Likewise, they have indicated that they are still working to solve the problem caused by the accumulation of water due to rain.
The Canary archipelago is on pre-alert for rain, except for Gran Canaria, which is on alert, as a result of the storm that affects the islands and is expected to subside on Wednesday, according to the Government of the Canary Islands, which also maintains the pre-alert for snow in La Palma and Tenerife.
The alert has been declared for the east, southwest of Gran Canaria, and the forecast is that it will be maintained until 6:00-7:00 p.m. this Tuesday, when heavy and locally very heavy showers are occurring.
