The Association for the Defense against Animal Abuse Lanzarote (ADEMAL) has denounced on its Instagram profile the conditions in which some podencos are locked in small cages in Los Valles.

As explained by the animal rights group, in June 2022 they filed a complaint after seeing three dogs locked in these small cages. One of them "only 80 centimeters high where there was a pointer dog".

For its part, in 2023 this dog was no longer with the other two podencos and in the images it can be seen how now a wall covered the part of the cages and in 2024 "they observe a podenco in an even smaller cage", so they decided to send a second complaint to the authorities.

However, this year it can be seen how the cages are completely covered by a wall that they have built so that they cannot be seen. In addition, the property where the dogs are located "has an area of 3,600 square meters but the animals live in six square meters", denounces the association.
