About twenty people participated this Tuesday in a special wine making workshop held in Lanzarote. The Island Council, through the Experimental Agricultural Farm, promotes wine innovation through various training activities, such as the course that focused on the types of wines known as Orange and Pet Nat, which was the one attended by almost 20 attendees.
The councilor of the Cabildo, Domingo Cejas, highlighted the importance of this type of initiative for the promotion and development of the wine sector on the island, "which is an integral part of our culture and identity." "During this term, we have placed special emphasis on training that strengthens and enriches our agricultural sector," he stressed and wanted to thank the role played by the Experimental Agricultural Farm in supporting the countryside.
The graduate in Chemistry and Oenologist Juan Jesús Méndez, was in charge of offering this theoretical and practical workshop, accompanied by the head of the laboratory of the Experimental Agricultural Farm of the Cabildo, Cristina Bermúdez.
The expert Juan Jesús Méndez shared his knowledge about Orange and Pet Nat wines, explaining their characteristics and methods of elaboration. The attendees had the opportunity to learn all the aspects of the production of these drinks in order to explore ancient and current techniques.
The workshop offered a tasting of these types of wines, allowing participants to appreciate the subtleties and differences of each one. This activity promoted a meeting and discussion space on the future of viticulture in Lanzarote.
The Cabildo of Lanzarote continues to bet on training and the promotion of wine culture, promoting activities that contribute to the growth and recognition of local wines nationally and internationally. Thus, this Wednesday a new course will be held on the control of maturation and tasting of grapes at the Arrecife Gran Hotel from 5:00 p.m.
