The latest robbery targets on the island have taken place in the offices of the Elite Building, located on Ramírez Ferrera street in Arrecife. In total, there have been two properties assaulted in this building, one of them belonging to the Canarias Europa Travel Agency and the other to the construction company Maurilanz. According to initial estimates, the thieves' loot includes a broken laptop and an amount ranging between 1,200 and 1,600 euros that Maurilanz had in a box for current expenses.
Curiously, the construction company has been the victim of another robbery, also during the same night, at a construction site of an urbanization that is being built in Playa Blanca, where several aluminum bars from the windows of the buildings were stolen.
"I arrived at the building around 9:00 a.m. and found the mailboxes battered and the doors of two offices open with wood and rubber debris on the floor", declared Raquel Aparicio, secretary of the office of the lawyer Macarena Aparicio, which is located on the first floor of the building, the same where the robberies have occurred. "Our office, which is right next to Canarias Europa's, has not suffered any robbery," explained the secretary, who assured that when calling the Police they had responded that they were already aware of the perpetrated robberies.
Robbery notices
The building had already suffered a robbery attempt a month ago, when the owners of the offices found the doors of their properties with several blows. "On that occasion we did not notify the Police because there was no robbery," explains Raquel Aparicio. And the Elite Building, which is still pending completion of its works, is usually with the main door open, a constant oversight that seems to have cost two of its companies dearly. "The door downstairs is always open, nobody ever closes it, so those who have entered would know that they could pass. Many customers come here and the door remains open", says Aparicio.
Regarding the robbery in the Maurilanz office, a construction company that has suffered a simultaneous robbery in its works in Playa Blanca, the first to notice the event was the architect of Italian origin Martino Ratti, a collaborator of the company, who found the door of his office open with rubbers and several pieces of wood on the floor. "I arrived around 9:30 a.m. and saw that they had opened a small box for current expenses", declared Ratti, who explained that the owner of the company is traveling and that the Local Police had already registered the complaints.
Another circumstance of the robbery, apart from the simultaneity of the events, is that the office of the construction company did not have any identification plate on its exterior, something that does happen with the offices of Canarias Europa, located on the same floor, so the perpetrators of the robbery could be aware of the location of the construction company.
"The sliding doors were forced and several papers thrown. The thieves have also taken a laptop that was broken," said Isidro, accountant of the company Maurilanz, who admitted that they had considered the possibility that some former employee of the company was the perpetrator of the robberies. The company is currently without construction workers, with the works of an urbanization in Playa Blanca completely paralyzed, which have also suffered a robbery.
