Two National Police officers have been arrested this Thursday and four others are accused of allegedly assaulting two brothers in the basement of the Arrecife Police Station and in the cells after their arrest, according to the EFE agency. One of the detainees is a sub-inspector who was on duty that day.

The victims of this alleged aggression reported the events in the Courts and through the media. As they told La Voz, they had gone to a park in Titerroy to "settle accounts" with another group of young people, who "had been attacking their nephew for some time." At that moment, agents of the National Police appeared at the scene, apparently alerted by the residents of the area. "They were only arguing and they arrested both of them," explained a few days ago the

sister of those affected, assuring that "at no time did they resist the authority."

The two young men were arrested by the National Police and transferred to the police station, where they claim they received "several attacks by the agents." "They beat me up in the parking lot and twice in the cells," says one of the brothers.

In this way, the two young men had bruises and injuries all over their bodies. "The police report says that we caused the injuries ourselves, but it's a lie," says one of them. In addition, "they say that we attacked the agents, but none of them has a scratch," he adds.

The case is in Court number 8 of Arrecife and, for the moment, has led to the arrest of two of the agents denounced by these young people and the indictment of the other four.

Despite this complaint, the agents continued in their jobs and the commissioner did not want to make statements, while the press department of the National Police in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria limited itself to stating that they were "investigating the facts."
