Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife managed to arrest two individuals in the early hours of Wednesday, allegedly involved in several crimes of robbery inside a house, vehicle theft, against road safety, and resistance and disobedience to an agent of authority, as reported by the capital's City Council in a statement.

According to the police version, the events occurred when the detainees, identified as D.G.M., 19 years old, and a native of La Coruña, and M.M.C., 35 years old, and a native of Switzerland, made an "evasive maneuver" upon detecting the police presence, "accelerating the van they were driving through the area of the Los Mármoles road, in the direction of the Vía Medular, to change the direction of their march, and end up overturning the vehicle".

After the rollover and the attempt to escape by its occupants, the local police proceeded to stop them, but "they ignored it, so the agents requested police reinforcements." Finally, one of the police officers managed to reach one of these people, while the second officer arrested his partner after "a struggle, which forced the police officer to use the minimum necessary force to reduce him." Therefore, the arrested person later required the assistance of the Valterra Emergency Service for an injury to his left hand.

Once immobilized, the agents verified that the vehicle was stolen and that the driver did not have a driver's license, so they proceeded to arrest them for an alleged crime of vehicle theft, as well as a crime against road safety and another of resistance and disobedience to an agent of authority.

Robbery in Puerto del Carmen

In addition, and after a superficial search of both individuals, the police found a black wallet with the documentation of a third person, as well as two sets of keys that the detainees stated came from an alleged "robbery with force inside a home in the town of Puerto del Carmen (Tías)." According to them, to escape they had used the vehicle with which "they had an accident and tried to avoid the presence

police".

The alleged perpetrators of the events were finally placed at the disposal of the judicial authority, also charging them with the crime of robbery inside a home.

Likewise, the local police proceeded to inform the Civil Guard of Puerto del Carmen of what happened, whose agents contacted the residents of the house where the robbery had supposedly been committed.
