The Civil Guard of Costa Teguise arrested on October 26 two people of Spanish nationality, 20 and 26 years old, without police records, for being the alleged perpetrators of a theft crime, after locating a submarine fishing rifle that had been stolen from a house by the method of scaling more than three years ago.

The investigation began in March 2017, when a complaint was filed at the Civil Guard facilities in Costa Teguise. It reported the theft inside a house in the town of Los Cocoteros of various belongings related to underwater fishing, including two rifles, a wetsuit and fins, all valued at more than 1,000 euros.

It was the owner of the objects who, recently and at a time when he was going to access the sea to do underwater fishing, observed a person carrying a rifle with similar characteristics to the one that had been stolen. In addition, according to the agents, "he was able to prove that it was undoubtedly his, with the exception that it had been painted, since said rifle was made to order in a traditional way, so there are no coincidences in the market."

Therefore, the agents of the Civil Guard carried out the appropriate police investigations, which allowed to verify that it was evidently the rifle reported as stolen and that, according to the initial statements of the person carrying it, he had acquired it in November 2019 in a social network for the sale of second-hand products.

With all the information gathered in the profile of the aforementioned social network, the Civil Guard was able to fully identify the person who made the sale, also proceeding to his arrest for the alleged authorship of a theft crime, legitimately handing over the recovered rifle to its owner.
