The two detainees who tried to disembark 470 kilos of "pure" cocaine in La Santa in the early hours of last Sunday have appeared this Tuesday before the Arrecife Court. The arrested are R.H., of Spanish nationality, and O.R.O., of foreign origin. A third person was traveling with them on the boat, who managed to flee the scene.

"We are still trying to locate him, obviously he will hide a lot and it will be a matter of time, since he is fully identified," said the spokesman of the Civil Guard, Eduardo Cabaleiro, in statements to Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero. "They are residents of the municipality of Tinajo, they are residents there," he added.

Cabaleiro explained that on the day of the event the agents "heard the noise of the engine without lights" and followed it until they found three people taking out what appeared to be the drugs on the dock. They intended to introduce up to 402 packages of drugs on the island, packages that were seized by the agents. In addition, he pointed out that the Benemérita believes that "there may have been an exchange on the high seas with a mother ship", because it was "a fiber boat and they were bailing water since they boarded all that amount of drugs".

"In the absence of official data, it is one of the largest caches seized in this way," said the spokesman of the Civil Guard. And, as he explains, "normally large caches usually occur with the interception of a mother ship on the high seas".
