A 54-year-old man was arrested last Saturday, August 3, for setting fire to the family home with his mother inside. This was reported by the Arrecife Local Police this past Tuesday.
In images released by the Local Police this Wednesday, you can see how the citizen was arrested.
The events occurred at 9:00 p.m. at a house on Juan Negrín Street. Firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium rescued the man who was on the roof with the help of a turntable ladder, and then the Local Police of the capital arrested him and made him available to the courts.
The agents were able to find out that the fire had allegedly been started by the man while his mother was inside the house.
In the video released by the Local Police, the detainee is seen lying face down and shirtless, with his hands tied behind his back, while being guarded by two local agents. In addition, you can also see images of how the mattress of the house was left, completely burned.
The Local Police stated on social media that "the action put his mother in serious danger" and that the emergency resources had to be at the scene for three hours, with the street closed between 9:10 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.
