The Local Police of Teguise, in collaboration with the Civil Guard, is investigating a robbery committed by one or more individuals who accessed the Piracy Museum by climbing the scaffolding surrounding the Castle.
Early in the afternoon this Wednesday, a shepherd from the Guanapay mountain area gave notice to the municipal officers, who went to the Castle of Santa Bárbara, accompanied by the councilor Eugenio Robayna and the archaeologist responsible for the restoration work being carried out in the historic fortress.
According to the City Council, "several objects that were part of the permanent exhibition housed in the museum" have been stolen, although the staff of the Culture area is still reviewing the inventory "to clarify the seriousness of the crime."
From the Consistory they also wanted to thank "the rapid action of the Security agents and the collaboration of the company Sustratal to clarify this event" which, in principle, indicate that "it has not caused major material damage."
