The National Police has launched the 'Motor19' plan in the province of Las Palmas, with the aim of reducing thefts related to vehicles. According to the police force, this operational plan aims to give "a comprehensive response to the commission of this type of criminal acts, involving various units in a coordinated manner and establishing a series of specific measures for each of them."
And it is that the National Police affirms that this year a "slight increase" in crimes related to theft from and inside vehicles has been detected in the province of Las Palmas.
Among the purposes of the 'Motor19' plan are both to reduce this type of crime and to identify and arrest its perpetrators, as well as to recover vehicles that may have been stolen.
Units of Citizen Security, Judicial Police, Scientific Police, Police Intervention Units (UIP) and Territorial and Local Intelligence Units will participate in it, with the collaboration of the different Local Police forces.
Safety tips
The National Police also provides a series of security tips to avoid or reduce the possibility of being victims of one of these crimes, such as ensuring to "close all doors and windows of the vehicle when leaving it" and "using anti-theft devices both in motorcycles and in vehicles that do not have an electronic immobilizer, such as steering, gearbox or brake disc locks".
Similarly, the National Police advises "never leave valuables visible from the outside" such as "bags, mobile phones, money...".
