The Civil Guard of the San Bartolomé station arrested this Wednesday a minor, 17 years old, for his involvement in the massive brawl that took place in the Deiland shopping center last Saturday. According to the Civil Guard, it would be the young man who fired a compressed air gun during the dispute, causing a stampede that resulted in three minor injuries.
The teenager, who has already been made available to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of two minor crimes of injury. "Based on the investigation efforts and the viewing of the security cameras of the aforementioned center, the Civil Guard identified the aforementioned minor, who allegedly used a compressed air gun (used in airsoft) to injure another minor and a worker from a store in the aforementioned center," explains the Civil Guard in a statement.
Another of the facts being investigated is whether the minor had a license to carry this type of weapon, which requires a special permit from the City Council. For this, the Benemérita is carrying out "negotiations" with the municipality. According to sources close to the case, the minor has explained in the Prosecutor's Office that he "threw the weapon into the sea" after seeing the media impact that the dispute had.
It was not a fight between football teams
At first, the Civil Guard pointed out that it was minors from two rival football teams who had met in order to fight. However, this Thursday they have reported that they are no longer working with that hypothesis. According to what they have indicated, although the first indications led them to consider that possibility, finally only one of the minors, who was injured with that compressed air gun, has turned out to be a federated player.
On the other hand, the Civil Guard is working on the identification of the other minors, about 14 approximately, who could face "administrative infractions for transgressing the Organic Law of Citizen Security, in its article 36.3", the police force has indicated. During the stampede that occurred after the shots, the door of the establishment suffered damage, so, ultimately, they could have to face those damages if the establishment claims it.
