The Local Police of Teguise managed to arrest this Wednesday the alleged perpetrators of two robberies that were perpetrated in the town of Guatiza, as reported by the City Council of La Villa. In one of the cases, it was a neighbor who alerted the Police, after observing suspicious movements in a house next to his. In the other, the assailants were arrested "in fraganti", thanks to the fact that the owner returned home when they were still inside and called the Police.

The first event took place at around 5:00 p.m., when a neighbor alerted the Local Police that he had seen a car leaving a house in Guatiza at high speed in a suspicious manner. This neighbor described that there were three men in a Gray Opel and that, apparently, they had stolen car parts in a warehouse.

After receiving the notice, the agents moved to Los Mármoles and, in a company in the area that is dedicated to the acquisition of second-hand vehicle parts, located the alleged perpetrators and the material was seized. The suspects were placed at the disposal of the Civil Guard, who accused them of misdemeanor with theft.

"Caught" by the owner

The second event also occurred in Guatiza, in one of the isolated farms scattered towards Costa Teguise, in the Hondura area. In this case, it was the owner who gave the notice to the Police. According to the City Council, when he returned to his residence he saw a car, a white car, and a couple who were stealing material from him.

When he notified the Local Police, two pairs of agents moved and arrested a 50-year-old man, as well as a 48-year-old woman, both residents of Arrecife. The two detainees were placed at the disposal of the Civil Guard and are accused of trespassing and robbery.

The Councilor of the Local Police, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, congratulates the agents "for the diligence and success they have had in these actions", at the same time that he makes a call to the population "so that when they see a suspicious attitude, do not hesitate to call the Local Police immediately", at the telephone number 928 84 52 52, or 112. The councilor emphasizes this request "especially in summer, a date on which many citizens go on vacation outside the Island, move to other summer residences, or spend many hours outside their home".
