The University School of Tourism of Lanzarote, dependent on the Island Council, celebrated this Friday the I Alumni Meeting, a day that brought together, at the Castillo de San José, the 32 promotions that have passed through the center since its foundation, in the academic year 1993-94, to the present.

With a program that combined reflection, experience and projection of the future, the day began with the institutional opening and the presentation of the objectives of the Alumni EUTL project.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed that "few things reflect better the commitment of an island to its development than seeing how young people are trained here, grow here and contribute to the world from here."

In that sense, the president stressed that "the University School of Tourism of Lanzarote has trained professionals who lead, innovate and defend a more sustainable tourism model and more connected with the identity of the island."

For her part, the Minister of Education, Ascensión Toledo, valued the trajectory of the center as "an example of how higher education can contribute to local development from knowledge, roots and excellence."

The director of the University School of Tourism Lanzarote (EUTL), Eva Crespo, said that this I Alumni Meeting was an opportunity, on the one hand, to pay tribute to Professor Domingo Concepción, "whose passion for teaching and human quality left an indelible mark", and also to celebrate "the bonds that last beyond the classrooms."

Likewise, Crespo highlighted the role of the school as a space for "training and community" and reaffirmed its commitment to a training "connected to the territory, innovation and responsible tourism."

The event was designed as a tribute to the professional footprint of those who have been part of this academic institution, as well as a space for dialogue between different generations of graduates.

The meeting, directed by Amalia Fajardo, included the inaugural talk 'Beyond the horizon: the future of tourism', by the professor of the University of La Laguna, Eduardo Parra López, and a dialogue table entitled 'From the university to the tourism sector', in which several graduates participated and shared their professional trajectories.

The event concluded with a networking cocktail to encourage conversation and reunion among the attendees.
