"We comply with the rules." This is what the football club that starred in a party at the Costa Teguise water park last Sunday has said, after it was reported by other users who were in the facilities. However, sources from the Local Police have confirmed that sanctions will be proposed for said celebration, at least against the water park, for non-compliance with the measures against Covid.

And it is that, the agents themselves intervened during the party, after receiving notice from park clients denouncing what was happening. In this regard, the police force has not detailed what breaches were detected, but they have stated that what they saw was "impressive."

However, from the Amarillos de Lanzarote club, which organized this celebration at the water park facilities, they are "outraged" with the controversy that has been generated. And they insist that they did comply with the measures and believe that they have been singled out as a "scapegoat."

"The measures were complied with on our part", said its president, Jorge Santana, who stated that, to begin with, the people from the club "had their temperature taken" when accessing the facilities and that they were also "forced to use hydroalcoholic gel."

The explanations of the football club

Regarding the foam party, he has assured that it only lasted "10 minutes" and that before "masks were distributed". "Until everyone had a mask, the foam cannon was not started," said its president. In this regard, it is true that in the images that have circulated, most of the participants were wearing masks. However, in addition to the fact that many looked wet, they did not comply with the safety distances. "That is precisely why the masks were given, because of the distance," justified the president of the club, also pointing out that there were many people who "were family."

He also said he did not know if people outside the football club could have sneaked into the party. And it is that, although according to what he indicated there was a tape delimiting their celebration, he pointed out that perfectly the rest of the users who were in the park could "pass underneath."

"On our part, we insisted a lot that distances be maintained and that masks be worn outside the water. We even became annoying, but it was our obligation. Now, I can't control the rest of the park," said the president of the Amarillos de Lanzarote club.

"And then in the water we can't force them to wear a mask," he added, after other images of the party have circulated on social networks, in which a large group of people are seen in a pool without a mask and many of them without keeping a safe distance.

In this regard, the board of directors of the club has detailed that it was a zumba activity that was done, assuring that it only lasted "five minutes" and that those who were not keeping a safe distance were "members of the same family."

Regarding the intervention of the Police, the president of the football club has indicated that he did not even find out. "No one required me at any time," he said, noting that it was later when he learned that they had come. Other members of the board of directors have told La Voz that they were able to see the agents, although they have indicated that they were not told "anything" either. "We will have to wait for the police report to see what they saw," they concluded from the football club.
