The Civil Guard of Yaiza has opened an investigation for an alleged crime of damage to property after the fire that took place in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday in a leisure venue in Playa Blanca. Agents believe that the fire may have been caused, since an empty can of solvent was found nearby.

The fire started at about 04.00 hours on Sunday and also affected an adjoining supermarket. Local Police, Civil Protection and the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium officers were moved to the scene.

After extinguishing the flames, firefighters proceeded to ventilate the premises. Now, the Civil Guard is investigating what happened and is looking for the possible person or persons responsible for these events, as they believe that the fire was not accidental.
