The Civil Guard of Lanzarote investigated on July 1 a 41-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of injury, for repeatedly hitting a taxi driver in the town of San Bartolomé. The investigation began after the Benemérita became aware of the complaint filed by the taxi driver at the Main Post of San Bartolomé, where the victim stated that he had been beaten on the night of June 25, 2023, outside the Playa Honda Shopping Center.
Faced with all this, the Civil Guard initiated an investigation in which the statements of possible witnesses were collected, in addition to analyzing the images from the security cameras in the area, as well as analyzing a video of the events that circulated on social networks in which it could be seen how the alleged perpetrator assaulted the taxi driver with kicks and punches.
Given the social alarm that the publication of the video had generated on different social networks and media, the Civil Guard became aware of the place where the alleged perpetrator worked, and it was in this location where they managed to complete his identification.
Apparently, according to the statement of those involved, the alleged perpetrator had not used the taxi services but was in the area and the taxi driver offered him the service, at which point the altercation began between them.
For all these reasons and with both parties identified, the Civil Guard investigated the alleged perpetrator of the events for a crime of injury, leaving the actions carried out at the judicial disposal of the corresponding duty court of Arrecife.
