The Civil Guard has denied a WhatsApp message that has been spreading in Lanzarote in recent days, which warns of the existence of a network, made up of Romanian citizens, that is dedicated to kidnapping children in different parts of the island. In another, using the same images, there is talk of a gang dedicated to perpetrating robberies on the island.
From the security body they have indicated that it is "unjustified and false information" and have reiterated the importance of not spreading this type of messages that "create great social alarm" without verifying the veracity of the same.
They have also recalled that it must be taken into account that information alerting about the existence of a network of this type would never arrive through mobile messaging, but would be transferred from public institutions. They have also recalled that this type of hoaxes and chains are repeated from time to time and that it is generally indicated that the victims would be children or the elderly, since they are more vulnerable groups. And as for the alleged criminals, these false messages also usually talk about a certain type of group.
The message sent in recent days includes photographs of several people pointing out that they are the perpetrators. In this sense, the Civil Guard has indicated that "they are playing with the privacy of these people by adding those photos saying that they are the kidnappers".
