The Civil Guard arrests two people for a robbery with force in a mosque in Lanzarote

They tried to avoid being recognized by changing clothes, but the agents managed to arrest one of them after a chase on foot and recovered the loot

The Civil Guard of Lanzarote arrested the perpetrators of a robbery with force that occurred inside a mosque in Puerto del Carmen. The incident occurred on January 30, 2025, when agents were alerted to a robbery in progress at the place of worship located on Calle Reina Sofía.

At 04:00 in the morning of January 30, the service patrols of the Main Post of Tías moved to the scene, because a flagrant robbery was being committed inside the place of worship where, after entering through a window, they forced a safe from which they managed to steal the amount of 1,000 euros in banknotes and 297.39 euros in coins of various values.

The individuals involved tried to avoid being recognized by changing clothes, but the agents managed to arrest one of them after a chase on foot, while proceeding to recover the stolen loot.

Subsequently, after conducting an exhaustive search of the area, the agents found the items of clothing that the individuals involved had abandoned. This clue led the agents to carry out additional investigation efforts, which included viewing the security cameras in the area. Thus managing to identify the other participant in the commission of the criminal offense.

Therefore, throughout the night, and after establishing a search device, agents of the Civil Guard of the Main Post of Tías, proceed to the arrest of a second person involved in the events.

The detainees, together with the proceedings instructed and the money stolen, were placed at the judicial disposal of the Guard Court of Arrecife in Lanzarote.
