Eleven people have been arrested and another six investigated for various crimes of robbery and assault during the past Famara festivities, as reported by the Civil Guard. The events took place in the week of August 22 to 28, and those involved are between 17 and 19 years old, all of them with a criminal record.

In total, three crimes of robbery in vehicles, a crime of robbery with force in a house, a crime of injury, two crimes of theft, a crime of receiving, a crime of fraud and a crime of damage have been clarified, amounting to the value of what was stolen to 3,800 euros.

The investigation began after the Benemérita received several complaints during the town's festivities. One of them had to do with a robbery inside two homes, from which numerous electronic devices were stolen. Another for a less serious crime of injury, in which unknown perpetrators hit the victim, fracturing his nasal septum and then, when he was on the ground, took the opportunity to steal his mobile phone, which had fallen in a dispute.

It was also reported in the Civil Guard that they had broken windows of three vehicles, accessing their interior and stealing various personal effects such as bags and clothing, among which was a credit card, which was used to make various purchases both in the establishments of Caleta Famara and in a gas station in Arrecife, all of them committed on the night of August 28.

The Investigation Group of the Civil Guard of the Main Post of Costa Teguise began to carry out the appropriate investigation procedures to be able to clarify the criminal acts, such as the detailed viewing of security cameras existing in the areas where the crimes are committed, surveillance in the areas where the illicit acts are committed, the appropriate inquiries for the location of the stolen effects, investigations and inquiries for the location of the address of the alleged perpetrators and thus be able to identify them thanks to all the information gathered.

Identification and arrest

The police actions resulted in the location and first arrest on August 30. In the following days, the Civil Guard points out that an "arduous" investigation allowed to identify and arrest the rest of the perpetrators, all being of legal age except for a minor.

The detainees and investigated were located in Arrecife, being their place of residence, having to carry out surveillance devices for several days for their arrest. The Civil Guard recovered a mobile phone and a laptop, and is still working to locate the rest of the stolen devices.

The proceedings, together with the detainees, were made available to the Investigating Court Number 4 of Arrecife, which was on duty, and the Prosecutor's Office for Minors.
