The Civil Guard of Lanzarote intervened to neutralize a device that simulated a hand grenade in the town of Playa Blanca in the municipality of Yaiza. The device turned out to be an Airsoft blank grenade, commonly used in recreational activities by air soft game enthusiasts, but whose realistic appearance made it difficult to differentiate it from an authentic explosive.

The operation began after a citizen reported discovering the device while passing through the area and reported the discovery of the device. Concerned about the appearance of the object, which was identified through photographs as a possible hand grenade, he contacted the Civil Guard.

Given the impossibility of determining in the first instance whether it is a real or simulated explosive, the corresponding security protocol was activated. A patrol from the Yaiza Civil Guard Station secured the perimeter to prevent people from accessing the area while waiting for the arrival of the TEDAX Team (Specialist Technicians in Explosive Device Deactivation) from Lanzarote.

Once on site, the specialists analyzed the device and confirmed that it was an Airsoft grenade without an explosive charge. Despite not posing a direct danger, it was decided to proceed with its controlled destruction in situ to prevent possible confusion or future alarms among the population.

The Civil Guard reiterates its commitment to the protection and tranquility of citizens, recalling that any collaboration on the part of residents is essential to maintain a safe environment.
