A total of five vehicles suffered damage and were victims of thieves this weekend in a garage on La Gaviota street in Arrecife. The event is especially relevant because of who the owners of these cars are: the city's own mayor, José Montelongo, the PP councilor Vicente Dorta, two workers from the Technical Office of the Arrecife consistory and a worker from the San Bartolomé City Council. At least three of them had broken windows and in some cases the thieves took valuables.
According to one of the owners of these cars, all the vehicles were in the same garage, which can fit more than 100 cars, but parked in different areas. The Local Police of Arrecife received the notice this Saturday at noon and took charge of the preliminary proceedings of this event, which has been left in the hands of the National Police.
As confirmed by the Local Police, their agents were able to verify upon arrival that at least three vehicles had been opened and objects had been stolen from inside. The three vehicles had broken window glass, they explain.
In the case of the mayor, although his vehicle also suffered broken windows, nothing of value was stolen from him. Vicente Dorta did not have the same luck, who points out that material "of considerable value from inside" was stolen from him. "It is a very specific, expensive material," he laments, although he points out that "it is not sellable because it has a serial number." Now there is only the possibility of recovering it if the Police manages to locate it.
